Halo The Essential Visual Guide is a visual guidebook of the Halo Universe, published by DK Publishing on July 4,2011. It is a updated version of the halo Encyclopedia in 2009 and it is further updated later on in that year. The book also gives names to previously unnamed characters.
Each page in the guide is dedicated to one element, focusing it's role and signficance in the Halo Universe. The book also features over 600 pieces of artwork specially commissioned by Microsoft artists.
